Cobble of limestone with concretion inside, Buren, Ireland

Maurice Sevigny, Dean of Fine Arts at The University of Arizona, gave me this rock in 2000 when I became Provost of UA.  Maurice found it along the beach at Buren, Ireland, and as an artist was struck by the beauty of it, both color and form.  Indeed, it is a beautiful piece of sculpture.  I like the fact that it has weathered so smoothly, and that differential resistance to weathering creates the main effects.
